Thank you so much for taking the time, letting in the impulse that allowed you to write this post. I get so much from your words, and this piece is very touching for me now. Let things come, you already said it.
I am always blessed by your posts regardless of the time passage between them. Being present is a beautiful space, especially in silence. This reminds me of a lovely quote from Ram Dass, "Do not speak unless you can improve on silence "
Oh, Janice. You couldn't have known this (or maybe you could have), but this message speaks to me today and brings with it hope, comfort, and some modicum of sanity. Like you, I am trying so hard to be positive, to not obsess on politics, on the state of our country, on the violence and negativity that I truly cannot believe the average person really feels. What you bring out is that on one level, we are all in this together -- this thing called life -- and we would do well to remember that we don't live in vacuums, or on islands, but in concert and relationship to one another. The whole world seems to need a celestial hug, some evidence we are better than what we're all seeing on the news. Because I really believe we are better. I am trying, therefore, to bask in my garden, pay close attention to the trees surrounding me, to the wind coursing through them, to the birds who come to my many feeders to greet me every day, to my students, who are also fearful of the future. It takes everything in me to stay optimistic at times, but it's these messages and texts coming from you that also help. You should know that today. Thank you.
This is so wise. Thank you.
Thank you!
